The Miracle of Life: The Development of an Animal

Animal development research has led to scientists discovering common ancestors and thus able to produce classification systems to decipher which organisms have more in common with one another. They can do this based on the number of layers of tissue the adult form of an organism has. Humans belong to the phylum Chordata, or chordates, which is the most complex.

Animals can be simple but most are extremely complex to develop, gametes need to fuse to make zygotes, mitosis then occurs until and embryo exists, after various biological processes,  three layers make up the embryo, the ectoderm, the mesoderm and the endoderm, the cells in these layers now specialize to form different body parts, creating the miracle of life.
