Map Of Axis Expansion And Collapse In Europe: 1939-45

A huge amount of territory traded hands several times throughout the Second World War. Hopefully through this map one can better gauge the extent of the Axis advance and the subsequent Allied recovery.

Note in particular the huge German advance into Russia, and the fact that the entirety of central Europe fell under Axis control in the war’s early phase. The true weight of the task facing the Allies is truly evident.
