The Assassination Attempt That Nearly Ended World War Two

On the 20th of July 1944, an attempt was made, unsuccessfully, to assassinate Adolf Hitler. This video shows the aftermath of the explosion at Hitler’s headquarters which failed to cause any significant harm to the German leader. Several key figures of the war can be seen as the video goes on to show Hitler greeting Mussolini as he disembarks from a train.

Towards the end of the film, Hitler is shown to meet with the men that were hospitalised by the blast. Most of the men are seen to be recovering from quite serious injuries in footage that was undoubtedly used in propaganda by both sides.
