The US War of Independence, or the American Revolutionary War, was a military rebellion against Great Britain by the Thirteen Colonies, which united as the United States of America in 1776. By 1778 this anti-colonial war had drawn in France, the Netherlands and Spain, and it saw founded a state that would come to dominate the globe.
