The Impact and Legacy of the American Revolutionary War

In 1776 thirteen North American states declared themselves the United States of America after entering into the Revolutionary War to become independent from Great Britain. The war lasted until 1783 and resulted in 7,043 British and German deaths from battle and 12,824 among the American, French, and Spanish.

Despite suffering more losses, America and its allies won the Revolutionary War and Great Britain was forced to recognise the independence of the United States of America. This video illustrates the various battles of the war, as well as the aftermath and lasting effects on the US government and citizens.
